To Know Christ

and Make Him Known!

Worship at Memorial

What is the main point of worship at Memorial?

Worship is the centerpiece of what you'll experience at Memorial. The heart of worship is to joyfully ascribe all praise and honor, glory, and power to the One Triune God. In our worship we proclaim that God is present in this world and in the lives of each believer. Worship helps us respond to God's grace through Jesus Christ. Worship doesn't just reinforce our beliefs and perceptions. Rather, it challenges us to rethink our priorities and convictions, and then get out into the world and bring God's love to it.

What guides worship at Memorial?

First, we worship biblically. This means that God's Word is at the heart of all we do in worship. Whether you're hearing it in the hymns, in a choral anthem, or from the message itself, scripture is our first priority. Second, we strive to be relevant for people broken by life and in need of God's amazing grace. Come as you are, not as you think you're supposed to be. Third, our worship is grounded within the Reformed tradition. The Spirit is moving strongly at Memorial and we invite you to experience God's grace with us!

Is your worship child and family friendly?

Absolutely yes! We have a children's message each week toward the beginning of the service. After this families can opt either to send their children younger than second grade to children's church or they can worship together. If you have an infant we encourage you to use our secure nursery in the event that she or he becomes impatient with the pace of the service.

What style is your worship?

Worship style says a lot about the identity of a particular church. Worship at Memorial is a blend of various traditional styles within the Reformed faith. Our music favors a combination of organ and piano, and on occasion we will use the harpsichord and flute. Our affirmations of faith span a panoply of creeds and confessions from the Presbyterian Book of Confessions as well as from scripture. We use hymns that are beloved across denominational lines.

How long does worship last?

Typically we begin with community life announcements and a welcome at 10:55 and we finish by noon. The message, which is the center of Presbyterian worship, takes upwards of fifteen minutes.
